Review: Utopia – Richard Clarke

You may have received a mailshot from Richard Clarke, on behalf of a group called UTOPIA.

To join his group you have to fill in a Utopian Initiation Application Document with your bank details for him to take out £30 a month…. but not for another month, as he will consider your application and if you qualify he will send you the Initiation Pack free.”

Clarke claims that his personal address (Invincible Road, Farnborough) is on the stamped envelope. But that address is home to dozens of businesses. It’s not a residential street.

Richard Clarke gives a deadline for applications and says in his sales letter that, “If you can’t get to a post box, email me … or call me on 01482 326743.

It is very reassuring to have his telephone number except that it happens the area code for Hull, N. Humberside and he gives his ‘personal’ address which seems to be an accommodation address on an industrial estate in Farnborough.

This may not be a scam. In fact, one reader has tried it and so far received some scant information on eBay in the post so far. But even if he’s genuine, this is a very shifty and dubious way to conduct business. I wouldn’t touch this with a bargepole attached to another bargepole attached to a barge that’s been stuck on a pole.
